My First Experience with Opera
With the passing of Luciano Pavarotti, and inspired by a few opera related posts from fellow Voxers like Karen and Voxy Lady M, I thought I'd share my first exposure to the world of opera. For years I never knew the title of this song, I always thought of it as the one that the orange sang! Yay for Sesame Street in the 70s! No wonder those of us who were kids in the 70s are so weird today. :)
Do any of you remember seeing this on Sesame Street? What was your first experience with opera?

i think my first experience with opera was carmen too! i don't remember it from sesame street but i remember watching this movie, carmen jones. have you seen it? it's must. i love it!!!
Latest experience: Wagner's Ring Cycle on DVD. Lovin it...
now MY memories have flooded back...thanks for the video link! I had forgotten how important Bugs Bunny is to my mental health...I need to start watching again...
The Rabbit of Seville is brilliant and still one of my favorites. I love the singing orange too, but it makes me sad how the little flower gives up it's petals for her eyelashes and then keels over dead. Boo hoo.
I Hope you and Ray find the time to go see a real opera one of these days, it's an unforgettable experience. They are performing Madame Butterfly this year which is hands down, one of the most beautiful and easiest to follow.
(why they picked that one for kids, I have no idea, but I'm glad I was there to see it)
A vox outing would be fun. I was just thinking that I should buy two tickets for me and Cassadre - I bet she would love Madama Butterfly.
