Last night, Ray and I rang in the new year at Anon Salon's Sea of Dreams. It's great to have a chance to wear costumes, yay. Happy New Year!
Okay, I'm jumping on the yearly review bandwagon, which is something that I've never done before.
- Started a wedding photography business with my husband, Ray
- Met lots of wonderful people who just happen to be our clients
- Documented lots of weddings, and found that I love telling people's stories through photos
- Celebrated six years of wedded bliss
- Continued to work at Six Apart, and I still love working on Vox
- Found out that I have asthma
- Traveled to Las Vegas for a fantastic photography convention
- Had a fantastic mentoring session and shot a wedding with Jules Bianchi, a wonderful wedding photographer from LA
- Reconnected with old friends
- Sang karoake for the first time, and learned that I'm a mic hog and a secret ham
- Had my SRL photos exhibited at Photo Miami and sold at an auction to benefit Todd Blair
- Shot a few events for the WSJ and Gen Art
- Rediscovered my love of video games (thanks to Pants Party and .tiff) and received my first gaming system since the Atari 2600 back in junior high in the early 80s
- Started driving again!
- Won the Scariest Costume award at the company Halloween Party and rocked my Little Dead Riding Hood costume
- Continued to meet lots of fantastic folks on Vox
Wah, wah, wah, we didn't win, but we're still winners!

Happy Anniversary to my husband Ray! We're celebrating our sixth wedding anniversary tomorrow. Since we're going to Cambria for the weekend, I decided to write about this today. I wanted to thank my wonderful hubby for being such a great husband who's loving, supportive, patient, and just an awesome person. I can't imagine being married to anyone else, and I'm glad that we can share our lives together. Yay!
Update: I should add "thoughtful" to the list of adjectives that describe Ray. Look at the beautiful roses he sent me for our anniversary. :D
If you're a designer or illustrator, ideasonideas has the perfect blog post for you. It lists how to politely and artfully deal with ten common difficult client requests. This should be required reading for every up-and-coming designer.
Ray and I have been super busy with weddings and portrait sessions the last few weeks, and I'm now just getting caught up.
Congrats to Katie and John who were married on September 28. Ray and I shot their wedding, and I'll share those photos later this week. A few weekends ago, Ray and I met Katie and John and their dog, Zach, at Baker Beach for a post wedding "We Did" portrait session. Katie was brave enough to get her wedding dress wet on the beach!
