Last week Ray and I had a really fun engagement session with Haley and Craig. We're shooting their San Francisco wedding this Saturday, and we're honored to be a part of their special day. Haley and Craig are an incredibly friendly and fun couple, and you can really see the love between them in their photos.
We ended up at Baker Beach because of the gorgeous view of the Golden Gate Bridge. If you're not from SF, you might not know that Baker Beach is also a nude beach, and if you look closely in the slideshow, you might catch a glimpse of a naked guy parading around.
Update: Since some of my Vox peeps couldn't view the slideshow on their Neighborhood page, I removed the embedded slideshow. You can now view the slideshow here.

Ray and I were really excited to have a chance to do an engagement session at the Sutro Baths ruins last week. Daniella and Ryan are getting married in October, and we're honored and excited to be a part of their special day. They're such down-to-earth and friendly people, and it's wonderful to see a couple so in love.
The engagement session took place at the Sutro Bath ruins, where Ryan proposed to Daniella. You can view more shots in the engagement session slideshow here.
Ray took the shot above because I was too much of a chicken to walk on this section of the ruins. :(

Ray and I are here in Maui to celebrate the wedding of Ginevra and Alex later today. We had a chance to do a quick photoshoot with them yesterday. We're sooooo excited to witness their special day today! More pics and a slideshow to come later.

I thought I'd share the completed slideshow from Megan and Eric's photo shoot, as well as a few more photos below.

A few weeks ago I mentioned that I had some life changes to reveal. I'm happy to announce that my husband Ray and I have started a new part-time wedding and lifestyle photography business, Lilia Photography. Our goal is to tell wedding stories with amazing photographs that capture emotional and unforgettable moments in a fresh and compelling way. We're available for weddings anywhere, as well as portrait work for couples, individuals, and families.
In addition to our new website, check out our new slideshows: (Turn your speakers up!)
Ray and I wanted to thank Nicole & Peter, and Gladys & Kris for being such good sports and being our first victims models! We're shooting Nicole and Peter's wedding in a few weeks, so we'll share those photos as soon as possible.
Note: I am not quitting my job with Six Apart, and I am 100% committed to my work there. Six Apart has been one of the best companies that I have ever worked at. I just want to give wedding photography a shot because working as a photographer has been a lifelong dream of mine.

From my favorite photographer, Diane Arbus:
"Most people go through life dreading they'll have a
traumatic experience. Freaks were born with their trauma. They've
already passed their test in life. They're aristocrats."
"The world can only be grasped by action, not by contemplation. The hand is the cutting edge of the mind."

How about the tiny residents of Selby? These itsy-bitsy folks reside in the elaborate permanent display of toy trains and sets at the Alameda County Fairgrounds in Pleasanton, CA. Shot the same day as my fair pics.
As you may have noticed, Vox has just added the Groups feature. If you're interested in photography, please join the Photography Group and invite all of your Vox photo peeps as well. :)
After September 11th, 2001, the Ground Zero site in New York City was classified as a crime scene and only those directly involved in the recovery efforts were allowed inside. The press was also prohibited from the site, but with the help of the Museum of the City of New York and sympathetic city officials, award-winning photographer Joel Meyerowitz managed to obtain unlimited access. By ingenuity and sheer determination, he was the only professional photographer granted unimpeded right of entry into Ground Zero.
For 9 months, during the day and night, Meyerowitz photographed "the pile," as the World Trade Center came to be known, and the over 800 people a day that were working in it. Influenced by Walker Evans and Dorothea Lange's work for the Farm Security Administration during the Great Depression, he knew that if he didn't make a photographic record of the unprecedented recovery efforts, "there would be no history."
